L-Theanine, Melissa officianalis and Magnolia officinalis for mood

Combination therapy is the use of multiple compounds to treat a particular condition. Combination therapy using plant compounds is particularly useful in the treatment of mood disorders because plant compounds tend to have different but overlapping effects on various aspects of mental health. In addition, mental health is not a single condition, but the range of physiological changes that can manifest differently in different individuals. Studies have investigated the effects of combination therapy on mood disorders in animal models. For example a combination of L-Theanine, Melissa officianalis and Magnolia officinalis was shown to have significant antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects in animals. Investigation of the mechanisms of this combination showed that the cannabinoid system in the brain appeared to be one possible route by which the combination delivered its positive mental health effects. Plants are ideal for this kind of combination therapy as in many cases they can be consumed as foods.
