Ginseng G115: Improved Performance From A Single Dose

Panax ginseng is a traditional medicine that can be used as a general tonic against stress. Stress is particularly damaging to health because it is known that stress can significantly lower the immune system. Studies suggest that consuming ginseng as part of a health diet can improve the immune system and this may relate to the ability of the herb to lower the release of stress hormones. This lowering of stress hormones may have other benefits including improvements in cognitive function. Interestingly these cognitive effects may manifest after consumption of a single dose of ginseng. For example, in one study, researchers administered 200 or 400 mg of ginseng 115 extract to 30 healthy young adults and then asked them to perform a series of mental agility tests. The results showed that the 200 mg dose of ginseng caused significantly improved task performance and significantly reduced subjective mental fatigue. Both the 200 and 400 mg dose also significantly reduced blood glucose levels.
